Job Responsibilities
- Review battery pack design design and manufacturing process, battery assembly process
- Review equipment plans for assembly and metrology
- Good understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis techniques, functional dimensioning, and GD&T
- Provide build support during early NPI builds to ensure that the process can meet the design intent
- Work with DFx team to ensure battery pack is handled correctly from the warehouse to the final installation into the system
- Work with in region thermal, validation and reliability teams to support testing at contract manufacturers and third party labs
- Rigorous failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective action and communication to the cross functional teams on issues
- Travel to audit vendors for supplier capability to enable new battery technologies
Minimum Requirements
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience in Li-ion cell or battery pack manufacturing
- Experience with PCB / flex design and SMT
- Experience with automation of manufacturing processes
- Excellent project management skills
- Experience with battery protection modules and safety standards
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Ability to travel to vendor / partner sites in China as needed
